The Hard Truths in Disney's "American Born Chinese"

As a second-generation Chinese-American who was raised in a predominantly Caucasian community, Disney's "American Born Chinese" resonated with me on many levels.
The show not only mirrored my personal experiences growing up in Illinois, but it also shed light on the complex dynamics within Asian households, which I could relate to.
Watching the series allowed me to reflect on the various truths it portrayed, while also recognizing areas where the Asian community can improve in managing emotions and interpersonal dynamics.
It became evident that there are consequences when we continuously avoid difficult emotions and sweep problems under the rug.
In order to foster healthier relationships, it is crucial to prioritize consistent open dialogue and effective communication.
So, let's dive into the significance of addressing challenging emotions and confronting conflicts head-on, as well as the importance of maintaining open lines of communication within any relationship.
